Thuraya introduces new IP-Plus satellite broadband terminal

Thuraya Telecommunications, an international mobile satellite services provider, recently launched its new mobile satellite broadband terminal called Thuraya IP+ -- the latest addition to the company’s growing portfolio.

Enabling a broad range of applications like email, data transfer, live high quality video broadcasting, social media communications, VoIP applications and web browsing, the new satellite broadband terminal of Thuraya is specifically engineered to accomplish an ultra-fast IP speed, ensuring rapid and reliable access to broadband data services via the company’s satellite network. The terminal also allows access to corporate networks even from the remotest locations that are beyond the reach of traditional terrestrial networks.

Weighing only 1.4 kilos for fast deployment, Thuraya’s IP+ is smaller than a regular-sized laptop and supports bandwidth-hungry applications at speeds of up to 444Kbps on standard IP, and 384Kbps on streaming IP along with a built-in antenna. The terminal can also be set up to provide asymmetric streaming capabilities, allowing users to control their upload and download speeds based on usage requirements, therefore optimizing bandwidth costs.

Eutelsat introduces new Tooway satellite broadband packages in U.K

Eutelsat Communications, a world-leading provider of satellite communications, made a recent announcement that the company will provide the fastest satellite-based consumer broadband speeds in the United Kingdom. With this new development, Eutelsat will be releasing a new series of simpler, Tooway satellite broadband packages with unlimited data download usage day and night, slashing down the prices to make it easier for customers to pick the right one suited for their needs.

The new packages which are called Tooway S, M, L and XL, will provide approximately 3.3 million properties across the U.K., which used to have no access to broadband or services of more than 2 Mbps. Tooway will deliver download speeds of up to 20 Mbps, making it the fastest consumer satellite broadband service currently available in Europe.

Tooway operates with a small satellite dish and modem, and is provided by KA-SAT -- one of the most powerful satellites existing in Europe. The cost will range from around £20 a month to approximately 50 euros a month, depending on the package preferred by the customer. Eutelsat said that the Tooway packages will be the first ever satellite broadband service in Europe.

“We're trying to get comparable, if not better than mainstream broadband, not just on speeds but also on features and pricing, so consumers aren't disadvantaged based on where they live,” UK commercial director for Tooway Steve Petrie said in a statement.
